Tasks of an agent

The task queue of an agent: adding, reading, retrying, cancelling and deleting tasks. The panel does the same on the Tasks tab of an agent.

Tasks go to the queue of a running or paused agent. The monitor adds them on its own, from a tracker, a schedule or another source its prompt names, and you add them by hand or from a script.

1

Step 1: Add a task

--description tells the agent what to do, and --title gives the task a short name. With --description - the description comes from stdin.

$ kcloud agents tasks add sandbox/release-notes --title "Update the changelog" --description "Add the changes merged this week to CHANGELOG.md."

Output

Queued Update the changelog as manual-m7k2q9xa-1.
2

Step 2: List the tasks

The newest tasks come first. --status keeps the tasks of one status (pending, in_progress, done, failed or cancelled), --limit sets the number of rows and --all reads the whole queue.

$ kcloud agents tasks list sandbox/release-notes

Output

STATUS TITLE ATTEMPT COST ID
pending Update the changelog 0 - manual-m7k2q9xa-1
3

Step 3: Show a task

Name the task by its id from the list. The command shows its status, attempts, times, description and error.

$ kcloud agents tasks show sandbox/release-notes manual-m7k2q9xa-1

Output

Update the changelog (manual-m7k2q9xa-1)
status pending
attempt 0
created 2026-03-14T09:30:00.000Z
started -
finished -

Add the changes merged this week to CHANGELOG.md.

Step 4: Cancel a task

A task can be cancelled while it has not started.

$ kcloud agents tasks cancel sandbox/release-notes manual-m7k2q9xa-1 --yes

Output

Cancelled the task manual-m7k2q9xa-1.

kcloud agents tasks retry sandbox/release-notes <task> puts a task in the status failed back in the queue, so the agent tries again.

5

Step 5: Delete finished tasks

The command deletes one task named by its id or, with --status, every task in the status done, failed or cancelled. The platform deletes no pending or running task; this needs Kikimora 0.14.0 or newer.

$ kcloud agents tasks delete sandbox/release-notes --status cancelled --yes

Output

Deleted 2 cancelled tasks.
